AmariM
In the shadows of R&B
and Soul music's renaissance, is an artist whose music
emerges with the desire to satisfy 'real music' lovers
and challenge the status quo. This is no accident, but
rather an intentional glimpse into the mind and soul of
AmariM. AmariM's style is rooted in R&B with rich sultry
soul and jazz undertones and influences in gospel...; this
allows her to move fluidly between either genre.
AmariM is a singer, songwriter and arranger. Her debut
as a singer was at the age of nine in the youth choir at
Temple Baptist Church in Chester, a suburb of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania where she grew up. While she didn't take the
lead on any songs, her strong alto could be heard in the
chorus. AmariM's love of music and singing was nurtured
with family, her mother and aunts were all singers. She
cites her fourth grade music teacher and the abundance
of music stations in the Philadelphia area with influencing
her appreciation for various types of music. Vocalists
such as Anita Baker, Rachelle Farrell, Phyllis Hyman & Stevie
Wonder; groups Incognito and Mint Condition; and new artists
Angie Stone, Amel Larrieux, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and
India.Arie are among her favorites.
Music has always seemed to live in and around me and for
a long while I didn't embrace it. As a result, I became
frustrated with my day-to-day routine because I was suppressing
the voice and talent God gave to me...; it was such a blessing
and a relief to be able to purge and explore what I'd carried
around with me in my mind and heart for so long and create
complete compositions of music...; "it felt good to finally
release my song" she says.
With creative lyrics, funky/rhythmic tracks and smooth
vocals, the tracks on the forth-coming "Vibes from the
Inner Garden" EP will take you on an unforgettable aural
journey.
AmariM considers her music an extension of her life and
personal experiences and she enjoys sharing these intimate
parts of herself with others. The songs on 'Vibes' range
from social-empowerment songs like "Ghetto Child" and "Brown
People"; to self-empowerment songs 'My Life', 'Star' and
'Mind at Ease"; to songs of love lost, love desired and
love gained on tracks such as " Fallin", "Something You
Said", and "Agape" and "Missing You".
Be prepared to indulge your mind and soul as you listen
to songs from AmariM that will motivate, inspire, and songs
you will want to hear over and over again.
